Connect your printer.
Set up the connection between your workspace and the printer on your desk.
In this guide
Before you start
You need a compatible ESC/POS receipt printer with 58 mm or 80 mm paper, a computer connected to that printer by USB or network, and a Slipbridge workspace account.
Your computer must stay awake and connected to the internet to receive web print jobs. For a network printer, it must also be able to reach the printer on the local network.
The public installer has not been released. If you already have a development copy, continue below. Otherwise, use the CLI with an authorized source checkout.
Connect with the Mac app
-
Open Slipbridge on your Mac
Put the app in Applications and open it on the Mac that can reach your printer.
-
Connect your workspace
In the web app, open Printers, select Add printer, then Connect this Mac. Choose Open Slipbridge to pass the one-use code to the Mac app. You can also copy the code instead.
-
Choose your printer
Select the connected printer and its paper width in the Mac app. Return to the web workspace and choose Check connection.
-
Keep the companion running
Enable launch at login to keep the connection available after signing in to your Mac. You can close the browser while the desktop companion continues receiving jobs.
Pairing codes expire after ten minutes. If a code expires, return to Add printer and get a new connection code.
Connect with the CLI
On Linux or for a terminal workflow, install the CLI on the computer connected to your printer. In the web app’s Add printer panel, expand Linux, Windows, or the Slipbridge CLI and create a pairing code.
slipbridge pair YOUR_PAIRING_CODE \
--server https://app.slipbridge.com
slipbridge listen
Keep the listener running while you want to receive jobs. Use the
installed CLI’s --help for printer selection options.
If pair is unrecognized, your installed version
predates workspace pairing; update from your source checkout before
continuing.
Understand connection status
The Printers page checks the companion connection every 30 seconds while visible, and when you return to it. Check connection checks immediately without sending a print.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connected | The workspace has verified the connection to Slipbridge on your computer. |
| Not connected | The companion is not currently connected. Check that it is running and the computer is awake and online. |
| Status unknown | The connection could not be verified. Try checking again. |
These are companion connection states, not the printer’s power or paper sensor status. Last contact records companion activity and can lag by up to five minutes during normal listening; checking the page does not reset it.
If a print does not arrive
- Open the job in Print history and check the selected printer and job status.
- Make sure Slipbridge is running on the correct computer, connected to the same workspace, and receiving jobs.
- Check power, paper, USB connection, or network reachability at the printer.
- Use Check connection in the workspace. If you use the CLI, inspect the listener output and follow the CLI troubleshooting guide.
A successful delivery means data was sent to the printer. It does not independently confirm that paper came out.
